Teaching an RYA L3 course so it's out with the big boards and big sails for another classic inland (i.e. gusty) lake sailing day. Used the centres HyFly Motions and Bic Technos with various Tushingham sails from 5.5 to 7.5.

Being day 1 it would have been ideal for cross shore planing conditions that would last the week but it was offshore planing (ish) that were due to last the day so it was a case of trying to get people on the plane, using footstraps and harness in one day. Some managed as they already had the skills but everybody improved their tacks and flare gybes. As for me, with the exception of a few demonstrations I spent a good deal of time either in the rescue boat dragging people back upwind or videoing; it's better than being at work though.
